To kick off my 20 day sewing challenge, I headed to Whipstitch fabrics in Atlanta. It is a sewing paradise. Even though I got lost getting, none of it mattered once I walked through the glass door. It had the most unique fabric. I felt like I was in a candy store, trying to make choices between all my favorites. Stacey was there to help and cut fabric and offer any advice and help. They even teach night classes, which was very appealing to me. I will definitely be venturing back to the green brick building. The next time, my friend Jaime will have to join me.
I should have zoomed in on all the fun fabrics. I guess you will just have to visit yourself.
They even had an embroidery section, which was exciting. My friend Eryn is teaching me this week and I am very excited.
They also had a few projects hanging up around the store, that were very inspiring.
When I got home, I got busy making the first item on my list. The knot shirt was made for ella without a pattern. I just tried to eyeball it. There were a few things learned from this. I learned how to do a buttonhole on my new machine. My old sewing machine made me press 4 different buttons. My new one (thanks for the best mothers day gift Matthew) was done with a press of one button and it did it for me. It was magical. I also learned that some things need lining. This was one of them. I have only done lining with a friend's help. I plan on learning how in the 20 day challenge. This is how it turned out.
Super cute! Can you make those in size 6x/7? LOL!
ReplyDeleteif you give me an example of a 6x-7 shirt I could try. looking forward to tomorrow.
